Where are the lentils?
POSTED: March 31, 2008

A number of new readers wrote in telling me they couldn't find the lentil soup and chard recipe I mentioned in a recent posting. Here's how it works. Type in "lentils" in the search box. Hit enter or click on search. A number of lentil recipes come up. Scroll down to lentil soup with swiss chard. Double click on that one. Decide whether or not you are going to add the meatballs (they are really good). Try the recipe. It is really, really good.

The Physicians Committee on Reponsible Medicine has a great cookbook with vegan recipes for Lentil soups and salads, black bean soups and salads. Even Oprah is going to try it for 6 weeks. Note: Thanks for the tip. I hope Oprah likes it. Fruit and veggie consumption may go up in the country if she does. Dr. M

lentil soup? said...

I did type in "lentils" in the search box and it brought up a brief paragraph: "Where are the lentils"... but without your lentil/chard soup recipe!

Can anybody forward the lentil soup with swiss chard recipe please? Note:seems to work OK when I type it in, hit search, then scroll down a few entries. Try this --- go to the "Archive" tab at the top and go to 2006 recipes. It's the fourth one down. it's a good soup and worth the effort. I usually make a double recipe and freeze some for another meal or two. Dr. M

I have discovered a simple, healthy recipe which I eat often for lunch:
4 slices of medium Tofu
1 teaspoon of black bean sauce (from Trader Joe)
some tomato salsa, add some ground pepper, if necessary
Fry it in a little olive oil until Tofu is golden brown.
Voilà, delicious! Note: Creative and sounds tasty. Thanks for sharing your idea. Dr. M

Our staple diet is Rice or Roti with Daal.
Daal is any pulses including lentils, split peas beans etc etc

Note: I am going to learn how to make it --- always interested in new flavors. Dr. M
