Where's the Nutritional Analysis??
POSTED: September 12, 2007

A numer of people have written me about the fact that the recipes I offer don't have the nutritional information they feel should be included. Some have specific dietary needs (e.g. diabetics), and others think it's very wrong to not offer this information on a health promotion website. I respect these diverse opinions. Over the last four years I have not espoused any particular diet. I have simply tried to offer recipes that are simple enough that I can personally cook them, are tasty, and are basically healthy. At some point, I believe it's fine for people to get a general sense as to which ingredients make good sense for health and which ones don't. Not every meal cooked at home by most of us has the exact nutritional analysis available. Eventually, you will get to know how many grams of fat are in a tablespoon of olive oil or butter and the percent that's saturated fat. You will also figure out how many carbs are in whole wheat pasta. Doing a little simple math can often give you the facts you need. Newcomers to this site may not know I have written about these issues over the years. In the upcoming weeks, I will post some more general nutritional information to help those interested make wise choices.

I would like to see easy, nutrional meals. My 10 yr old is very healthy, approx wt is 210. What is quick, healthy and easy to make-need ideal recipes a kid might enjoy. note:
Probably the best thing to do is to look through the archived recipes. There are some there kids would like. I assume you are working with your child's pediatrician on nutritional issues. Dr. M
